Crystal clear Caribbean waters welcome observers from both above and below the calm surface and offers amazing views of the varied sea life. The Meso-American Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world, silently protects our coast line while providing a home to large communities of curious fish. Lobsters, crabs, and sea turtles hide between large pillars of corals and swaying sea fans.
Above the water, Costa Maya offers miles of uninhabited beaches strewn with sea shells, chunks of drift wood, bamboo, and corals. Large coconut palms tempt the traveler with tropical shade while providing homes for iguanas and wood peckers. Brown pelicans, snowy egrets, cormorants and the great blue heron are just four of 546 different species of birds and waterfowl keeping a watchful eye on this stretch of paradise.
