Activities in Costa Maya

The port of Costa Maya has long been a favorite for cruise passengers for one reason:  there is a lot to do.  Whether you are a fisherman, scuba diver, snorkel enthusiast, sunbather, beach comber, bird watcher, explorer, food critic, or an avid bar fly, something awaits you in this small seaside village.

At Maya Chan Beach, we share with our guests all the gifts Costa Maya has to offer.  Crystal clear Caribbean waters welcome observers from both above and below the calm surface and offers amazing views of the varied sea life.  The Meso-American Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world, silently protects our coast line while providing a home to large communities of curious fish.  Lobsters, crabs, and sea turtles hide between large pillars of corals and swaying sea fans.

Above the water, Costa Maya offers miles of uninhabited beaches strewn with sea shells, chunks of drift wood, bamboo, and corals.  Large coconut palms tempt the traveler with tropical shade while providing homes for iguanas and wood peckers.  Brown pelicans, snowy egrets, cormorants and the great blue heron are just four of 546 different species of birds and waterfowl keeping a watchful eye on this stretch of paradise.

For those less energetic days, beach beds, hammocks, water chairs, and soft white sand offer the perfect place to relax and enjoy your time with us.  Your mood may call for sea-side dining in a private palapa or sitting at the bar with a few of your friends.  We even have our own “Well Drinks” spot with a Maya Chan twist on the common swing bar.  And if the shopping is what’s drawing you back to the crowds, relax.  We have our own gift shop full of local jewelry designs, interesting handicrafts, and a few items of forgotten beach accessories like sun glasses and sun screen.

There’s a lot to do in Costa Maya and at Maya Chan Beach you have the opportunity to do it all.  Or do nothing at all.
